The Dostie Family

If you live in Florida, you know the risk of Hurricane season. Whether it is a direct hit or a sneaky skirt, the damage can be overwhelming. 


One of our favorite clients, Mr. Dostie, was facing the reality of multiple storms that took a toll on his dock and deck. ADB was there, from start to finish and was able to restore his dock and boathouse in no time. 
 

From Mr. Dostie:
Billy, I want to tell you, I just did something that I haven't been able to do in 18 months. I walked to the end of "my dock" to view the most amazing sunset.

The Process

 

  • Removed all wood on the walkway to dock.

  • Plumbed and leveled existing pylons to dock.

  • Framed in new 2/8 UW cross members for stringers bolted to pylons with 1/2” stainless steel bolts.

  • Framed walkway to dock with double 2/8 using UW pressure treated stringers, clipped to every cross member with a stainless steel hurricane clip and stainless steel nails.

  • Cross brace on parallel poles using existing UW stringer material from walkway installed with 2 - 8” stainless steel lag bolts.

  • Deck walkway with 2/6 pressure treated round edge decking installed with stainless steel screws.  

  • Removed decking around inside of boathouse and walkway area.

  • Installed new round edge decking as per previous installation instructions.

  • All materials and labor were performed on the water not having to interrupt the landscaping.

  • Cleanup and removed all job-related debris.

You guys, I’m so happy I could cry! 11 months after the hurricane. We have had I can’t even tell you how many people and companies come look at this for repairs. They either quoted double or quadruple the other going rates or flat out didn’t show or call when they said they would. Until….a completely random conversation with a friend at work on Sunday. Lou called me Monday morning. Monday afternoon they showed to assess and give a quote. They said they would show up at 8 am Tuesday. GUESS WHO SHOWED UP AT 8AM TUESDAY FOR LESS THAN HALF THE LOWEST QUOTE WE RECEIVED. They showed when they said they would-à miracle. And seriously, the best price around to do the work we needed done without all the unnecessary add-ons everyone else wants to include.
